synopsis

‘Human Race’ follows renowned professor Eske Willerslev and his team of scientists on a groundbreaking mission to map the genetic blueprint of 5,000 ancient humans. As they uncover new insights into human DNA, they confront unsettling questions: What makes us who we are? Through the lens of filmmaker Simon Lec, this real-life documentary explores Willerslev’s personal and professional journey, highlighting his battle with belonging, ‘fitting in’, and his goal of making his mark on human history. The film delves into the ethical, political, and existential challenges of redefining what it means to be human.
